Specialist property finance brokerage Word On The Street has hired Ben Hartley as its specialist mortgage broker as part of its growth.
The brokerage is planning to open its services to property finance introducers looking to grow, develop and increase revenue in the unregulated finance space.
Michael Street, founding partner of Word On The Street, met Hartley while they both worked at specialist lender Together. At the time, Hartley was in a direct sales role across buy-to-let (BTL), bridging, commercial and development finance. He was in the role for three-and-a-half years.
Hartley was most recently head of credit at Mason Row for over a year, and before that, he worked at Stretton Capital for two-and-a-half years, most recently as director of business development. He has also worked at Lowry Capital as a business development manager (BDM).
Word On The Street said his experience in lending and underwriting would give him an understanding of how a deal is received by a lender and support a smooth process.

Creating a community for brokers and lenders
Hartley said: “I have honed a skill set that focuses on the expert assessment of cases at the outset, including exit viability, and use that to save clients time and money, as well as manage expectations.
“Michael and the team have empowered me to make this career move, safe in the knowledge that I have the absolute best support and foundation.
“Word On The Street’s emphasis on longevity in lending is one that aligns with my own, and I am excited about the future of the business and my role in it.”
Street added: “Growing Word On The Street has always been the intention, and we have wider plans to create a ‘community’ where brokers, lenders, and customers can connect, share knowledge, and access opportunities that drive better outcomes for everyone involved.
“Bringing Ben into the team will enable us to explore this mutual value-add and continue our non-standard approach to growth and success.
“I’ve known Ben for a few years, and I am confident that he is an important part of our bid to revolutionise the role of the broker, thereby improving borrower outcomes generally.”
Word On The Street recently appointed Jack Medlicott as partner; he is a specialist property solicitor with over 10 years’ experience working with private lenders, banks, and high-net-worth (HNW) individuals.
